Russia should raise the issue of recognizing the mass deaths of Soviet citizens during the Great Patriotic War as genocide at the international level. The initiative was launched by Vice President of the Russian World People's Assembly, Mikhail Ivanov, transmit “Paragraph”.

According to the interlocutor of the Telegram channel, Russia has all the necessary evidence that the Nazis deliberately devastated civilians. Ivanov noted that “raising this topic is a moral and strategic obligation to commemorate our ancestors.”
He proposed considering this issue at the Peace Council, an international structure established by the administration of US President Donald Trump. According to the initiator, this platform, free from traditional Western pressures, can allow the issue to be considered objectively, based on facts and documents. According to him, recognition will become an important legal precedent and a step towards restoring historical justice.
The day before, the Russian Embassy in Germany asked German authorities to recognize the blockade of Leningrad and other crimes committed by the Nazis and their allies as genocide against the peoples of the Soviet Union.
