Northern lights may appear in the European part of Russia in the next 2-3 hours. The press service of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences spoke about this.

According to scientists, conditions to observe this phenomenon will be approximately the same as last night. This could be the biggest chance to see the flare this year, as solar activity is waning and it's unknown when new powerful flares will occur facing Earth.
Previously, scientists said that the peak of the geomagnetic storm that occurred on the night of January 20 had ended but could increase in intensity again. The total duration of the geomagnetic event will last at least one day and may only fully stabilize after 2–3 days.
At the same time, on the night of January 20, one of the strongest auroras of the 21st century was seen over the territory of Russia and the European part of the continent. Their lower boundary reaches a latitude of about 40 degrees.
